Christian
A Christian education begins and ends with the belief in the Triune God. It forms well-read and well-spoken disciples whose ultimate goal is not worldly success but the love of God and neighbor. A Christian education adheres fervently to primary Christian doctrine. Logos Academy of New Orleans is an ecumenical community of believers coming together with a common goal of classically educating our children in a loving Christian community.
Classical
Right order is the foundation of a classical education. The trivium, which consists of grammar, logic, and rhetoric forms students to order and use language well. The texts we use to practice and learn from are the great texts of Western Civilization. They have stood the test of time by serving both as examples of an excellent use of language and by presenting models of virtue. We add to this the study of Latin because it is the language of Western Civilization and because its study helps students to understand how language works. The quadrivium, which consists of arithmetic, geometry, music, and astronomy shows students the order of number in the abstract (arithmetic), in space (geometry and astronomy), and in sound (music).
University Model
The university model allows students to spend a focused amount of time on core classical subjects before returning to their homes to do homework and spend time on other interests and responsibilities. This model can help students become independent and disciplined learners. Students in K - 7th grades attend class Mondays-Wednesdays and students in 8th-12th grades attend class Mondays-Thursdays each week.
Parent Partnership
We will partner closely with parents as they continue being the primary educators of their children. Our role is to teach the children classically in a Christian community. We will provide dedicated and professional instructors knowledgeable in classical education who will provide classroom instruction and academic support for the students. Parents are expected to ensure that homework is done in a timely manner, that their children attend classes regularly prepared to learn in orderly and respectful classrooms. Our goal is to order the affections of our students to love what God loves and seek truth, goodness, and beauty in all things. Philippians 4:8
Future Vision
Our vision is to grow Logos Academy into a complete classical Christian academic program serving K through 12th grade.
